Ezra: Essential Insights into 2 Esdras Chapters

Chapter 1

1 And it came to pass after the death of the king of the Persians, that I, Esdras, sat in the palace of the king, his steward.

2 And I saw the sanctuary of the house of God.

3 And I saw the people of the Lord, and they were very contrite.

4 And I said unto them, Say not, Where is the God of the fathers?

5 For I have seen the affliction of my people.

6 And they answered me, The God of Israel will not forsake us; for he has remembered us.

7 And I prayed unto the Lord, and I remembered his works, and I remembered his promises.

Chapter 2

1 And the Lord said unto me, Esdras, you are very much beloved of me.

2 And I prayed for the restoration of Jerusalem, and my heart was heavy.

3 And the Lord answered me, saying, I will build up my city again.

4 And I saw a vision, and behold, the glory of the Lord descended upon me.

Chapter 3

1 And I saw men who were walking in darkness.

2 And the Lord said unto me, Do you see this, Esdras?

3 And I answered, Yes, Lord.

Chapter 4

1 And the Lord showed me the great depth of the abyss.

2 And I saw the abyss as a great sea, and it was closed up.

Chapter 5

1 And the Lord spoke, saying, Esdras, you are to tell the people of Israel not to be afraid.

2 For I will save them from their troubles.

Chapter 6

1 And I beheld in my vision the sign of the Son of Man.

2 And the Lord proclaimed that he would bring judgment upon the earth.

Chapter 7

1 And the Lord asked me, Esdras, Do you know the number of those who will be saved?

2 I answered, O Lord, you know all things.

Chapter 8

1 And the Lord showed me the path of righteousness.

2 And he said unto me, Follow this path, and you shall find life.

Chapter 9

1 And I prayed, saying, O Lord, what shall become of the unrighteous?

2 And the Lord answered me, They shall be cast into outer darkness.

Chapter 10

1 And I saw the spirit of prophecy coming upon me.

2 And I declared the words of the Lord.

Chapter 11

1 And the Lord said unto me, Esdras, rise up!

2 For I shall bring you before the people.

Chapter 12

1 And the Lord instructed me to write the visions.

2 And I wrote according to his commandment.

Chapter 13

1 And the Lord showed me a vision of the coming judgment.

2 And he said, Esdras, prophesy against the nations.

Chapter 14

1 And the Lord spoke, Esdras, gather the people.

2 For I will show you great wonders.

Chapter 15

1 And the Lord declared his word in my ears.

2 Say unto the people, Repent from your wickedness.

Chapter 16

1 And the Lord showed me the last days.

2 And I saw righteousness prevailing over evil.
