How To Use Clovis Star
This page explains the main reading, comparison, and research tools available to members.
1. Create Or Access Your Account
Open the Members page and either register a new account or sign in with your existing email and password.
Once signed in, your saved highlights and notes are attached to your account instead of only the current browser.
The first visible confirmation is the signed-in status line near the top of the Members page.
2. Read Books
Use the Books page to browse available texts by title or collection.
The left side of the page is for searching and selecting texts. The main reading panel on the right displays the selected book.
Use the search box to find titles, collections, or excerpt text. Use the collection filter to narrow the list.
3. Compare Two Texts Side By Side
Open the Compare page to place one text on the left and another on the right.
Select a book in each dropdown, then scroll each side independently while reviewing matching or contrasting passages.
This is the fastest way to compare parallel themes, wording, or structure across two different texts.
4. Save Highlights
Select text directly in the book reader or compare view.
Choose a highlight color, optionally enter a short note, and save the selection.
If you are signed in, the highlight is stored in your member profile. If you are not signed in, it is only stored in the local browser.
5. Add Notes To Saved Highlights
Open the Members page to review your saved highlights grouped by book.
Each saved item includes a note field. Enter or revise your note, then use the save action for that item.
This is useful for recording observations, cross references, translation issues, or research reminders.
6. Jump Back To The Source Text
Every saved highlight includes a direct link to the related book.
Select the linked book title from the saved highlight card to return to the source text quickly.
This is the fastest route back to the text for additional reading or further highlighting.
7. Show Bookmarks In The Book Sidebar
On the Members page, enable the setting labeled Show saved bookmarks in the book sidebar.
When this setting is enabled and you are signed in, the Books page will display your saved highlights in the left sidebar.
Those sidebar entries act as quick references back to the texts you have already marked.
8. Export Your Saved Highlights
Use the export button on the Members page or Compare page to download your saved highlight records as a JSON file.
This can be used for backup, personal archiving, or later migration into another workflow.
9. Best Use Pattern
Read a text on the Books page for focused study.
Use the Compare page when you need two texts visible at once.
Save highlights with short notes while reading, then organize and expand those notes later from the Members page.
Enable sidebar bookmarks if you want a quick working list of previously marked passages while moving through the library.
10. Important Notes
Some texts are still being cleaned, reviewed, or completed.
If a page looks incomplete or contains markup artifacts, that text may still be in review.
Your member tools still work normally on any text that is available for reading.
